• receive confirmation for a flight out of LAX at 7 a.m. on Sunday, September 25.

I called the VP back (that's that 713 number that had called me), and discovered that, indeed, my company wanted me in Texas. The powers that be had decided they needed someone to staff a transmitter site out in The-Middle-Of-Nowhere, Texas, 24 hours a day. Apparently, there was no power at the site, except generator, and in fact, there was no power in much of that area at all, due to Hurricane Rita.

So, I called our corporate travel coordinator, and she called me back with the confirmation code, and my flight information.

Now it was time to get some of the Code Red out of my system, and dance.
